St. Croix International Waterway Commission has teamed up with Project Paddle for an exciting way to fundraise. Alex Peppard and James Woods are the dynamic duo taking on this challenge, After meeting in the University of New Brunswick’s Kinesiology program, Alex and James have been undertaking adventures across the world, fundraising for various charities and  initiatives such as the Canadian Cancer Society, Shinerama, the Heart and Stroke Foundation and AIDS Relief.
Alex has ridden his motorcycle across Vietnam and led countless youth expeditions in various countries. James has biked across Canada and hiked through the Himalayas. Experiencing beautiful geography all over the world has given these two a new found appreciation for their home province of New Brunswick. The winding rivers, untouched landscapes and serene natural spaces found in this part of the world have inspired them to do their part for future generations to come.

Goal:

Raise $5000 for St. Croix International Waterway Commission

Plan:

Paddle the entire 3766 kilometers of the Mississipi River from its headwaters at lake Itasca, Minnesota to the Gulf of Mexico, Louisiana.

Why:

We chose to partner with the St. Croix International Waterway Commission because we are avid users of the watershed it protects.

Growing up in New Brunswick we’ve spent our summers paddling, fishing and swimming in the waters of the St. Croix. We appreciate its beauty and recognize its ecological importance. We want to do what we can to help preserve this natural space for future generations.

Finally, as Canadians paddling down an American River we could think of no better organization to work with than one that sees active US and Canadian cooperation as the backbone to its conservation goals.
