The campsites managed by the St. Croix International Waterway Commission at Scott Brook, Gravel Island, and Spednic Lake are open for public use. Our staff and volunteers worked incredibly hard during the days immediately following the storm, opening the roads, removing debris, and clearing dangerous trees. These three sites, as well as road access points, were cleared by Wednesday, July 9. We will not be providing refunds for campsites reserved between July 10 onward, as the sites were accessible by road. Please consult the cancellation policy for more details.
Water levels remain high in East Grand, Spednic Lake, and the St. Croix River itself, though they are now going down. SCIWC staff have not been able to access all of our water-access-only sites at this time, so we are unable to verify they are safe after post tropical storm Arthur. Please Plan Ahead and Prepare for your journey and any adverse conditions you may encounter, including storms and high water. Learn more about minimal impact camping at Leave No Trace.
We recommend against travelling on the water until levels drop below 2000 cfs unless you are an experienced paddler. You can view the river gauge at http://waterdata.usgs.gov/usa/nwis/uv?01018500.
