Abby Pond hired as Executive Director of the SCIWC

PRESS RELEASE: St. Stephen, NB­­--The St. Croix International Waterway Commission is pleased to announce that Abby Pond has recently been employed as Executive Director. Ms. Pond was hired to replace Leigh-Anne Outhouse, who resigned this past autumn.

Ms. Pond is originally from Boiestown, NB and has returned to the province after four years of living abroad. She brings to the Commission over 12 years of experience in tourism, non-profit management, and environmental issues. She holds degrees in biology, wilderness guiding, and a MSc in Climate Change Management. The daughter and granddaughter of Miramichi fishing guides, Ms. Pond is a certified canoe instructor and previous ran her own canoe touring company in Revelstoke, BC. She and her family look forward to making their home in the area.

In 2013 the SCIWC will be undertaking strategic planning and an update of its long-term management plan for the St. Croix corridor. Ms. Pond looks forward to working with the board and the communities in the region to ensure the St. Croix remains a beautiful place in which to live, work, and visit.

Over the next few months, Ms. Pond will be familiarizing herself with the area, businesses, organizations, municipalities, elected representatives and media outlets.
