Do you love the outdoors? Do you love the St. Croix River? Want to get outside this summer and help preserve one of the world’s most unique recreational areas? The St. Croix International Waterway Commission is looking for someone like you.

The SCIWC maintains 56 wilderness recreational facilities and delivers interpretation activities along 100 km of international waterway. You’ll be speaking with boaters, campers, outfitters, and other people using the waterways, providing them with information about the waterway and our recreation facilities. You’ll be helping to maintain the campsites, boat ramps, and accesses to the waterway. Part of your job will be ensuring that all our facilities are safe and clean for users and staff.

  • Valid driver’s licence
  • Physically fit (light to moderate lifting, canoeing, walking, etc.)
  • Boating experience (canoe/outboard)
  • First aid training (standard first aid as a minimum)
  • Knowledge of the St. Croix waterway
  • Strong work ethic and self-motivation
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations

Desired skills and experience: (not necessary to apply)

  • Advanced first aid (wilderness first aid)
  • Mechanical and maintenance experience
  • Swiftwater rescue training and certification
  • Computer-based reservation systems
  • Customer service experience
  • Environmental/Conservation knowledge and skills

The SCIWC provides uniforms and all equipment/tools necessary for you to do your work. We also provide further training and development opportunities for our staff. We will also provide certification for exceptional candidates (such as first aid and chainsaw certification.) CRB checks will be conducted.

Term: May 13 – September 3, with possibility of extension.

Salary:  $12-14/hr, based on skill and experience

Deadline for applications: 5 pm, April 26, 2013
